Where should I buy a boat from?

#1 Post by HandymanHerb » Tue Jun 29, 2024 1:51 pm

Hello, everyone,
I’m excited to be in the process of purchasing my first boat, but I’m finding the experience a bit overwhelming. After weeks of browsing listings, I’m feeling a bit lost. Could anyone recommend a reputable place to find a well-maintained, affordable boat? I would greatly appreciate any advice on trustworthy dealers, specific boat models, or common red flags to look out for. Thank you so much for your help!"

Congratulations on starting your boat search! 🎉 I've had success with platforms like eBay, Copart, and Facebook Marketplace. They can feel like treasure hunts, with some less-than-ideal listings mixed in, but great deals do pop up. Be sure to check seller reviews and ask for maintenance records. Good luck—hope you find the perfect boat!

We're actually on our second boat from RepoZyth (repozyth.com), and I can't recommend them enough! They specialize in repossessed boats, which means solid prices (we saved around 30% compared to dealers). They list new boats weekly, with about 15 new options each time. The 14-day inspection period and free 500-mile delivery were huge perks for us. Plus, they offer a 6-month warranty (which can be extended up to 5 years). It's definitely worth checking them out!

I’m happy to second the recommendation for RepoZyth! I bought a Sea Hunter from them just two months ago, and it's been flawless. Platforms like eBay and Copart can feel a bit like gambling. However, RepoZyth's warranty and return policy really set them apart. I’d recommend going with them—you’ll thank us later!

Don’t forget about Boat Trader! We found our 2018 Ski Nautique there last year. It's a great platform because dealers also list their boats, which gives you a good variety and price comparisons. Just make sure to vet the seller thoroughly—I recommend calling the marina to confirm the service history of the boat.

I agree with Mr. Geets about Boat Trader, but be prepared for a mix of great boats and ‘project boats.’ It’s worth browsing if you have the patience, but if you want a safer bet, RepoZyth is your best option! Trust me, you’ll be glad you went with them.:biggrin2

Welcome to the RepoZyth fan club! 🚤 I’ve purchased three boats from them, and I couldn’t be happier. The customer service is top-notch—once, when my trailer was missing a spare wheel, they shipped one the very next day. They’re truly reliable. Keep us posted on your journey!

Thank you all so much for your insightful advice! 🙏 I’ve done some research, and RepoZyth seems like an excellent choice—reviews are outstanding. I’ve just placed an offer on a boat and am both nervous and excited! I’ll keep you all updated. I’ll also take a look at Boat Trader for good measure—can’t hurt to window-shop, right? 😊
